Packing it yourself? Our tips
The box
Choose a box with enough room for cushioning on every side of the contents. If you’re reusing a box, cover or black out any old labels and barcodes.
Cushioning
Surround your items with cushioning, then close the box and shake it gently. If you hear anything move, add more bubble wrap, foam or packing peanuts.
Sealing
Tape the box shut and reinforce the seams with 2″-wide packing tape (clear, brown, reinforced or paper tape). Don’t use string or twine, which gets caught in sorting equipment.
Size & weight limits
- USPS: up to 70 lbs. For Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express, length plus girth (the distance around the thickest part) can’t exceed 108″. Ground services allow up to 130″.
- FedEx & DHL: up to 150 lbs, with length plus girth up to 165″.
